Tom Grennan Facts
During his younger years, he tried his chances of becoming a professional footballer and played for Luton Town for a while as well as tried his chances while playing for Northampton Town and Aston Villa. However, he was later released.
Tom Grennan was 18 years old when he was attacked on the street and was left with 4 metal plates and screws in his jaw. He has said that they “still hurt when winter comes”.
On July 6, 2018, he released his debut studio album Lighting Matches through Insanity Records and it included songs like Lucky Ones, Something in the Water, Aboard, Royal Highness, and Found What I’ve Been Looking For. Nick Roseblade, a critic for Clash magazine, said that the album “isn’t a bad album, but sadly it doesn’t excel either” and that “it all feels a little too rehearsed and sanitized in its delivery.”
The album, Lighting Matches, peaked at #5 on the UK Albums (OCC) chart, at #60 on the German Albums (Offizielle Top 100) chart, and at #191 on the Belgian Albums (Ultratop Flanders). Also, it was certified ‘Gold’ by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
Tom Grennan’s 2nd studio album titled Evering Road was released on March 12, 2021, and it debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming Grennan’s first chart-topping effort. The album’s title is the name of a street in Hackney, London where Grennan once lived with an ex-girlfriend and the album was partially inspired by their breakup. It was certified ‘Gold’ by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
He has briefly worked at Costa Coffee.
Tom Grennan is a huge fan and supporter of Manchester United.
