Nickelodeon Cancels Sam & Cat

You know Ariana Grande as a performer, and her role as Cat in Sam & Cat is to thank for that. She started off her career on the Nickelodeon series Victorious, in which her character and another character from the show iCarly – played by Jennette McCurdy – spin off. The show, Grande announced on Sunday, has been cancelled amid controversy.

The show was picked up for 40 episodes during its first season, but Nickelodeon is cancelling the series as of the 36th episode. The series finale will air on July 17. Grande took to Twitter to announce her feelings on the cancellation of the show.

“I want to thank Nickelodeon for being a family to me. Thank you to the cast and crew who I spent almost every day with for a good four or five years. I can’t imagine that there is a more pleasant or professional crew in Hollywood,” Grande wrote. The show has been taking a bit of a break since March. It was widely thought that photos of McCurdy which were leaked on the internet were to blame for the hiatus, but other people claimed that Grande and McCurdy simply did not get along.

Grande played the character of Cat for several years, and admitted that she hid behind the character for many years saying, “When I was younger, people loved Cat so much I used to pretend to be more like her. It took me a long time to be brave enough to separate myself and show people how different we actually are.”

Fortunately for Grande, her music career is keeping her busy at the moment. She might not have a show to film anymore, but the Nick star is becoming an increasingly popular singer and her music is being played all over the radio, which is only going to help her fame rise.
